Remove Fence Post Concrete Footing – If you have a fence that is in good condition, except for a broken post, you do not have to destroy the fence to remove and replace it. There is not an easy way to remove from the ground without finishing exhausted with a shovel, and that does not involve tying a rope around the pole, connecting it to your car top and running your car in reverse. Whether it’s a wooden pole or a metal pole, you can pry it out with a long two-by-four piece. This technique will work even if the message is set in the concrete.
Disengage the fencing from the fence post if it is still connected. Move the back part back and forth to loosen it. Place a concrete block on the ground about 6 inches from one side of the stick. Make sure it is not on top of the concrete that holds the stick. Light a length of 8 feet two by four on its edge, pass one end over the block and the wedge under the screws or bracket. The other end should be facing at an angle.

Pull down on the other end of the two by four lever to introduce the fence post directly from the floor. This can be a two person job, depending on the depth of the post and how much concrete is attached to the base. When the message is far enough away, tilt it out two by four and pull it the rest of the way.
